Learning Outcomes
The objective of this course in the winter semester is to introduce methods for evaluating balance. Such methods range from simple, field tests and questionnaires to modern evaluations with cutting edge technology. The course includes the description of balance evaluation protocols, balance training attributes, and special reference in the elderly population and pathologies associated with balance deficit, such as Parkinson’s disease. Balance protocols are presented in laboratory conditions and the final purpose to achieve is to make student able to read balance reports produces by domestic or international labs. Furthermore, students will be able to equip a balance lab in order to cover potential marker needs.

Balance control system - proprioception - vestibular system - strategies for balance correction - balance evaluation - field tests - forceplatform - center of pressure - balance training - weight distribution during stance - special populations with disabilities related to loss of balance control - balance evaluation and training in special population.
