Course Content (Syllabus)
Theory: Mechanical behavior in the nanoscale (nanoparticles, nanocrystals, nanomaterials, nanofilms, nanotubes). Application of the principles of mechanics (continuous and statistical) in nanoscale. Modification of the principles of tension, deformation, diffusion and phase transformation in nanoscale. Application of the principles of nanomechanics in technological nanomaterials, nanofilms and nanobiological materials. Introduction to the applications of the Nanomechanics, Nanotechnology and Nanobiotechnology.
Experiment and theory: Techniques for the measurement of Nanomechanical and Nanotribological properties (Nanohardness, Nanoscratch: measurement and measurement analysis of hardness, adhesion, friction, deterioration, residual stress in bulk materials and thin films. Analysis models of elastic contact. Applications in magnetic recording media, MEMS and micro- nano- devices. Laboratorial familiarization with nanomechanical techniques and methods.
