Course Content (Syllabus)
*Growth: Life cycles of plants, basics of growth and development, patterns of growth, distribution of growth, the plant cell as the basis of growth. *Factors affecting growth: The genetic factor, water, mineral nutrition, oxygen, CO2 and other gases, temperature (thermoperiodism), light, biotic factors. *Plant growth regulators: Auxins, gibberellins, cytokinins, growth inhibitors, growth retardants, ethylene, polyamines, brassinosteroids, salicylic acid, jasmonates (discovery, biosynthesis, metabolism, natural occurrence, physiological effects, mechanism of action,applications in horticulture).
