Course Content (Syllabus)
The course deals with the significance of the salvation perspective of human beings in the Orthodox Church. It examines the place and teaching of Saint Symeon of the New Theologian on the basis of his writings. The purpose of the lesson is to bring the students into contact with the texts of Simeon the New Theologian and teach them the ways in which they were interpreted in the history and Tradition of the Church. The connection between Simeon and Saint Maximus the Confessor and the influence and common experience with Saint Gregory Palamas is noted.
