Course Content (Syllabus)
It is examined the leading presence of Cretan artists, the imposing number and quality of their work and also their direct and indirect influence to the painters of different origins. Cretan artists are embodied in a professional class that is well organized in a corporation. Often the whole family, brothers or parents and children have the same profession. The purpose of the course is to prove that Cretan artists create new iconographical types for a number of themes of iconography. Their art expresses the elegance of the class of the Scholars in Crete, which is connected directly with the Venetian education and the catalogue of the nobles.
