Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to: - understand the basic notions and concepts of Remote Sensing - have a global overview on the applications of Geospatial Science and Technology in education - use specialized spatial analysis software along with Remotely Sensed data for educational purposes

Course Content (Syllabus)
Introduction to Remote Sensing - Earth Observation. History and physical principles of Remote Sensing. The notion of resolution in Remote Sensing. Characteristics of satellite images. Optical and microwave Remote Sensing. Space-based Remote Sensing systems. Digital Elevation Models from satellite data. Aerial and ground-based REmote Sensing. Applicaions in the atmosphere - cryosphere - hydrosphere - geosphere - biosphere. The European Space Agency (ESA) and other Space Organizations. Current Programmes for Earth Observation. Remote Sensing in Education. Practical exercise on the application of spatial analysis software and remotely sensed data for educational purposes.
