Course Content (Syllabus)
The practical training in the course of Forest Utilization focuses on the harvesting of forest products and the study of the structure and properties of wood. Students have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in practice regarding the methods and techniques of harvesting timber and other forest materials. During the training, emphasis is placed on selecting and using appropriate equipment for the safe and efficient removal of forest products, while also considering the environmental impacts and the principles of sustainable forest management. Furthermore, the practical training includes the analysis of wood structure, where students learn to recognize the microscopic and macroscopic structures that determine the physical and mechanical properties of wood. Through this process, students understand how these structures affect the strength, stability, and workability of wood. The training also examines the significance of wood defects, such as knots and cracks, and how these impact the quality, aesthetics, and mechanical properties of wood as a material. This practical experience provides students with the opportunity to gain experience in real forest management conditions and understand the importance of the proper utilization of forest resources.
