Learning Outcomes
Short Description This course aims for students to acquire the general principles of soft tissue surgery in companion animals through an extensive analysis and the use of surgical examples from clinical practice. The methods and techniques are listed in a comprehensive way so that the student understands the purpose, basic mechanisms, and processes related to surgical intervention. Preparation of the surgical field, team and instruments, peri-operative and post-operative patient care, and techniques of wound suturing, ligation, catheter placement, and drainage will be covered through theoretical teaching and practical exercises. The student will thus acquire additional skills in handling tools and devices in order to be able to perform basic surgical procedures.
