Course Content (Syllabus)
Basics of concrete technology. Codes: Eurocodes 2 and 8. Concrete: monotonic loading, characteristic compressive strength, classification according to Eurocode 2. Modulus of elasticity. Stress-strain relationship. The influence of confinement on strength. Concrete behavior in biaxial and triaxial stress state. Creep and shrinkage. Reinforcing steel: different types and purposes; geometrical characteristics of ribs. Explanation of the bond mechanism. Eurocode 2 requirements – Mechanical properties. Seismic characteristics of reinforcing steel. Stress – strain relationship. Behavior in repetitive and cycling loading. Structural Analysis. Ultimate Limit states. Bending. Design of structures under normal stresses. Design of reinforced concrete rectangular and flanged beam sections in bending. Design of reinforced concrete columns in bending. Ultimate Limit state in shear. Design of reinforced concrete rectangular beams, flanged beams and columns for shear. Design of RC beams in torsion: types of torsion. Beams under pure torsion. Beams under shear and torsion.
