Learning Outcomes
After the successful completion of the course the students will be able to:
• apply the limit equilibrium and limit state analysis methods to geotechnical stability problems,
• to perform stability calculations for shallow foundations, piles, earth retaining structures and soil solpes,
• calculate lateral pressures acting on earth retaining structures,
• calculate the facotr of safety of soil slopes,
• calculate the ultimate loads on shallow foundations,
• determine the effect of ground conditions (soil layering, groundwater, ground inclication) on the bearing capacity of shallow foundations,
• calculate the axial bearing capacity of single piles and pile groups.
