Learning Outcomes
After the successful completion of the course the students will be able to: • apply the limit equilibrium and limit state analysis methods to geotechnical stability problems, • to perform stability calculations for shallow foundations, piles, earth retaining structures and soil solpes, • calculate lateral pressures acting on earth retaining structures, • calculate the facotr of safety of soil slopes, • calculate the ultimate loads on shallow foundations, • determine the effect of ground conditions (soil layering, groundwater, ground inclication) on the bearing capacity of shallow foundations, • calculate the axial bearing capacity of single piles and pile groups.
