Learning Outcomes
1) The students will be familiar with the most recent issues related to mineral raw materials 2) Environmental impact of mining 3) Estimation methods with a focus on geological and mineralogical research, and in particular on the sampling methods of different types of deposits 4) Environmental impacts of mining activities 5) Reuse of old mining wastes

Course Content (Syllabus)
Mining legislation. Mine-mapping. Excavation methods. Sampling, preparation and processing of samples. Surface and underground mining. Methods of ore reserves classification and estimation. Economotechnical reports. Impacts to the environment from the exploitation of primary minerals. Drawing and restoration of regions of surficial or underground exploitation. Writing of restoration proposal.

Description
1. Written Exam with short-answer questions on topics taught at both theory and laboratories. It makes up 100% of the overall score. 2. Possibility for two optional interim written examinations with short-answer questions covering half of the syllabus. Each makes up 50% of the total score.
