Learning Outcomes
1) Students learn about the Earth's formation (and the way this affected its structure) within the Solar system 2) Introduction in the Earth's gravity field and its basic surfaces (geoid and ellipsoid) and the way that they affect how we perceive its shape (e.g. with the use of GPS) 3) Understand the isostasy origin and principles, and how it defines the surface morphology and the lithospheric structure 4) Learn about the Earth's function as a magnet, as well as its theoretical and practical implications (e.g. magnetic maps, etc.) 5) Introcuction into the basic principles of Palaeomagnetism and its branches (Archaeomagnetism, Environmental magnetism, etc.) 6) Learn about the Earth's heat flow, the heat production mechanisms in the Earth's interior, and the temperature distibution within the Earth and its role for geodynamics.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Earth and the Solar system. Earth movements with geophysical significance. The Earth's gravity field and isostasy. Gravity anomalies and their significance. The Earth's magnetic field and palaeomagnetism. Heat and temperature of the Earth's interior.
