Learning Outcomes
After the successful completion of the course students will be in the position: 1. To know the concepts, terminology and methods used in the research of mass communication 2. To be able to effectively search for, retrieve and critically evaluate the existing scientific literature 3. To be able to choose the appropriate research method according to the question they wishe to investigate 4. To be able to design effective research in the field of social sciences 5. To be aware of the potential weaknesses of the research they are planning and to find ways to overcome them

Course Content (Syllabus)
In this course, students are introduced in the more frequently applied research methods in the field of mass communication. In particular they familiarize themselves with both the quantitative research methods (e.g. correlation design, experimental design, survey design) as well as with qualitative research methods (e.g., content analysis, interview, focus groups, thematic analysis). They also are exposed to the structure of scientific research and the stages of a research (sampling, purpose, formulation of research questions and hypotheses, structure, references).
