Learning Outcomes
After the successful completion of the course, the students are expected to: - be aware of the environmental impacts of transport and the current institutional framework - understand the problem of noise and air pollution caused by transport - become familiar with the concept of sustainable mobility - understand the role and implementation of good practices - are aware of the role and application of advanced transport technology in order to improve the quality of transport their environmental impact

Course Content (Syllabus)
Problems of transport systems in urban and interurban environments - Trends and findings (traffic congestion, air pollution, noise, accidents) Urban mobility - Transport system and spatial development European policy on sustainable urban transport - Institutional framework - Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans Traffic management - Good practices for sustainable urban mobility (alternative modes of transport) Environmental impact studies - Calculation of noise and pollutant emission levels (application of appropriate models) Application of new transport technologies which, when combined with social developments, lead to drastic changes in the behaviour of commuters (electric vehicles, autonomous vehicles, shared mobility, etc.)
