Learning Outcomes
The individual subjects that will be taught and learned to apply in practice are the following:
1. Application of active source seismic methods (surface and borehole) to study technical problems
2. Application of passive seismic methods (ambient noise, etc.)
3. Application of electrical tomography methods
4. Application of georadar methods
Course Content (Syllabus)
The course aims to acquaint postgraduate students with the applications of Applied Geophysics in solving applied problems concerning the safety, operation and behavior of technical infrastructures, as well as in the mapping of geological structures that affect technical projects. Emphasis is placed on the basic principles of geophysical methods, and mainly on examples of their application to applied problems, such as:
a) Geohazards studies (earthquake engineering design, soil response, landslides, etc.)
b) Geological/geophysical mapping of areas affected by technical works (dams, road construction, etc.)
c) Non-destructive testing of technical works
