DescriptioniGEM Thessaloniki, an interdisciplinary research team in the field of synthetic biology, represented the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in the international student competition for Synthetic Biology iGEM 2018, and was among the teams awarded with a silver medal. The 7 undergraduate students, from the schools of Biology, Informatics, Pharmacy and Chemical Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, designed and presented a series of innovative biological systems using synthetic biology methods to achieve controlled gene expression. These systems optimize the production of the desired genetic products, both at laboratory and industrial level.
