| Description | The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings are annual, scientific conferences held in Lindau, Bavaria, Germany since 1951. Their aim is to bring together Nobel laureates and young scientists to foster scientific exchange between different generations and cultures. The meetings focus alternately on physiology and medicine, physics, and chemistry – the three-natural science Nobel Prize disciplines. An interdisciplinary meeting revolving around all three natural sciences is held every five years. Since 2008, Onassis Foundation has been representing Greece as an academic partner and sponsor. From 25-30 June 2017, 420 talented young scientists from 72 countries had the unique opportunity to meet 28 Nobel Prize laureates, and for five days to attend lectures by prominent scientists in the field of Chemistry. It is a great distinction that from all Universities in Greece, five PhD candidates were selected with rigorous evaluation procedures to participate in the meeting, and that three of them come from the Aristotle University of ThessalonikiThe three PhD candidates from the Department of Chemistry who were selected to participate in the 67th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting that this year was dedicated to CHEMISTRY are: Ms. Maria Nerantzaki, Mr. Athanasios Papadarakis and Ms. Stella Fasoula and they pursue research under the supervision of: Dr Dimitrios Bikiaris, Dr Sotirios Sotiropoulos and Dr Dimitra Voutsa, respectively |
