The Postgraduate Programme of the Chemistry Department offers high quality postgraduate education in eleven specialisations, which cover a wide range of basic and applied fields of contemporary Chemistry: Inorganic Chemistry and Chemistry of Inorganic Materials, Quantum and Computational Chemistry, Biochemistry, Organic Synthesis-Natural Products and Applications, Chemical Analysis-Bioanalysis, Environmental Chemistry and Pollution Control, Chemistry of Materials, Chemical and Environmental Technology, Science and Technology of Polymers and Nanocomposite Materials, Food Chemistry, Technology and Quality Control, Chemical Education and Information and Communication Technologies. Educational objective of the programme is the theoretical and practical training of students in their specialization and the introduction in scientific research. During the first two semesters students attend courses credited with 60 ECTS totally. In the third semester students prepare their MasterThesis on a research project, which is credited with 30 ECTS. Totally the completion of 90 ECTS and attendance of three semesters are required.
The aim of the programme is to prepare skilled scientific staff for both research and service in fields critical for the economic development. Areas where the expertise of the graduates is required are Chemical Industry, Food Industry, Pharmaceutical Industry, Public Administration, Education, Public Organizations and Agencies, State Chemical Laboratories, Hospitals, Analytical Laboratories etc.
In addition to the basic knowledge on their specialization, the graduates obtain the ability to criticism and self-criticism, as well as the ability to seek, analyze and synthesize data and information, to work independently or in groups, to generate new ideas, to promote free productive and inductive thinking.
