<p>In order to be accepted in the postgraduate program entitled "Applied Psychology" students must have been awarded a Bachelor΄s (ptychion) degree in Psychology either from a Greek public University and specifically from a. Psychology Departments b. Departments of the same scientific field, or officially recognized foreign Institutions, provided that the equivalence of the degree to that of Greek university programs has been ascertained by the Hellenic National Academic Recognition Information Center (NARIC). </p>

<p>In order to obtain the Postgraduate (Master΄s) Degree of Specialization in Applied Psychology: </p><p><b>a. Graduate students of the Clinical Psychology track</b> must complete the requirements of four (4) semesters of study and two (2) summer periods, which include 10 courses (covering topics related to basic-general knowledge, specialization in the particular scientific field and skills development), a thesis and 1200 hours of supervised practical training (Ministerial Decision no. 8597/08.12.2016 Hellenic Government Gazette no 4198/27.12.2016 vol. 2). During the first two semesters and the first summer period, graduate students must attend and pass six (6) courses, complete 1/3 of their practical training (400 hours) and begin their thesis. In the second year (two semesters and one summer period), graduate students must attend and pass four (4) courses, complete 2/3 of the practical training (800 hours) and complete their thesis. The program is allocated a total of 150 ECTS. </p><p><b>The goals of the Clinical Psychology track are</b> (a) to provide specialized knowledge in the specific scientific domain, in conjunction with training in the necessary skills on an applied level. More specifically, the objective is to train students to function independently as clinical psychologists either in the public or the private arena. Therefore, upon completion of the program, students should be able to function independently as psychotherapists with a broad view regarding the etiology of their clients΄ problems with sensitivity regarding the role of social problems in client΄s emotional state and basic knowledge of community clinical psychology (b) to train the students in scientific research methods in this scientific domain and their preparation to write a doctoral dissertation. </p><p><b>b. Graduate students of the Clinical Neuropsychology track</b> must complete the requirements of four (4) semesters of study and two (2) summer periods which include 10 courses (covering topics related to basic-general knowledge, specialization in the particular scientific field and skills development), a thesis and 1000 hours of supervised practical training (Ministerial Decision no. 8597/08.12.2016 Hellenic Government Gazette no 4198/27.12.2016 vol. 2). During the four semesters, graduate students must attend and pass ten (10) courses. During the first year of study, they complete half of the requirements of the practical training (500 hours) (250 hours during the first two semesters and 250 hours during the first summer period). The other half of the practical training is completed during the 3rd and 4th semesters. During the first summer period, graduate students must begin their thesis, which must be completed during the second summer period. The program is allocated a total of 150 ECTS. </p><p><b>The goals of the Clinical Neuropsychology track </b>are (a) to provide specialized knowledge in the specific scientific domain, in conjunction with training in the necessary skills on an applied level. More specifically, the objective is to train students to function independently as clinical neuropsychologists either in the public or the private arena. Therefore, upon completion of the program, the student should be able to function independently as diagnosticians and/or as cognitive rehabilitation specialists with a basic understanding of both the neurobiological and the emotional foundation of their clients΄ difficulties. (b) to train the students in scientific research methods in this scientific domain and their preparation to write scientific papers. </p><p><b>c. Graduate students of the School Psychology track </b>must complete the requirements of four (4) semesters of study and two (2) summer periods, which include 9 courses (covering topics related to basic-general knowledge, specialization in the particular scientific field and skills development), a thesis and 1000 hours of supervised practical training (Ministerial Decision no. 8597/08.12.2016 Hellenic Government Gazette no 4198/27.12.2016 vol. 2). During the first three (3) semesters graduate students have to attend and successfully pass nine (9) courses. During the first summer period students must begin their thesis and complete 1/4 of their practical training hours (250 hours). In the fourth semester they continue with their thesis and 1/2 of the practical training hours (500 hours). During the second summer period, students must complete their thesis and the last 250 hours of their practical training. The program is allocated a total of 150 ECTS </p><p><b>The goals of the School Psychology track </b>are (a) to provide specialized and in depth knowledge of basic principles of developmental, clinical, educational and counseling psychology, (b) to develop and apply in depth scientific research skills regarding relevant phenomena, and (c) the attainment of competence as a school psychologist. </p><p>Upon their graduation: </p><p><b>A. Graduates of the Clinical Psychology track </b>will be in a position to function independently as a clinical psychologist, applying their knowledge. Specifically, they will have gained specialized knowledge and skills so as to provide services related to assessment, conceptual formulation and intervention in psychological problems, as well as to design prevention and intervention programs in various clinical settings. The student will be familiar with all theoretical approaches. </p><p><b>Graduates of the Clinical Neuropsychology track </b>will be in a position to function independently as a clinical neuropsychology, applying their knowledge. Specifically, they will have gained specialized knowledge and skills so as to provide services related to assessment, conceptual formulation and intervention in psychological problems, as well as to design intervention programs in various clinical settings. The students will be familiar with underlying neurobiological mechanisms of cognitive disorders. </p><p><b>Graduates of the School Psychology track</b> will be in a position to function independently as school psychologists applying their knowledge regarding children of preschool, school and adolescent age, as well as to their educators and parents. More specifically, they will be able to understand the processes responsible for developmental changes in the context of normal development and its disorders, to apply knowledge which may enhance the healthy development and adaptability of children and adolescents to school, the family and society at large they will know and apply modern methods of research, evaluation, and clinical applications in school settings, combining basic principles of developmental, clinical, school and counseling psychology to the assessment and intervention in cases of learning, behavioral, social and emotional difficulties experienced by children, adolescents and their families. </p><p><b>B. Graduates</b> will have developed the ability to produce new ideas, to design and manage scientific and research questions, to search, to analyze, and to synthesize research data and information through the application of scientific methods and the use of new technologies. </p><p><b>C. Graduates </b>will have critical and self-critical skills in the context of their training, will have been trained to work effectively, either independently, or within multidisciplinary groups, will have learned to adapt to new situations and to make sound decisions. </p><p><b>D. Graduates</b> will be competent in the use of library databases, research databases, statistical software, educational environments for learning, and communication in the English language, a skill particularly important for their professional and personal development. </p><p><b>E. Graduates</b> will have learned (a) to respect ethical guidelines for professional psychologists and will have developed a sense of professional, social and ethical responsibility, (b) to respect diversity and multiculturalism and provide high quality services to relevant populations, and (c) to view clinical and professional issues through the perspective of gender. </p>

<p>Graduates of the Postgraduate (Masters) Programme of Specialization in Applied Psychology, School of Psychology at the A.U.T.H., whose undergraduate degree is in Psychology have already been granted a license to practice as professional psychologists prior to their admission to the postgraduate programme under the provisions of the Act 991/1979 (G.G. 278/ 20-12-1979/A) as amended by the provisions of the Act 2646/1998 (G.G. 236/20.10.1998/A). Graduates of the same postgraduate programme who hold an undergraduate degree different from Psychology are not granted a license to practice as professional psychologists. </p>

<p>The qualification is a terminal award and allows access to doctoral studies (PhD) </p>

<p>A scale of 1 to 10 applies to the marks of each subject in the Hellenic Higher Education. </p><p>Άριστα (Arista) Excellent from 8.50 to 10.00 </p><p>Λίαν Καλώς (Lian Kalos) Very Good from 6.50 to 8.49 </p><p>Καλώς (Kalos) Good from 6.00 to 6.49 </p><p>Ανεπιτυχώς (Anepitychos) Fail from 0.00 to 5.99 </p><p>Minimum passing grade according to the Schools Postgraduate Studies Regulations is 6.00. </p>

<p><b>4 SEMESTERS & 2 SUMMER PERIODS, 150 ECTS </b></p><p>A full academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS units, each semester to 30 ECTS and each summer period to 15 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) (1 ECTS=25-30 hours). Compliance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) regulations started in 2007, when the Greek Legislation was harmonized with the relevant European one (Ministerial Decision no. Φ5/89656/Β3, art. 1-3 Hellenic Government Gazette no. 1466/2007/B). Each course is credited with a number of ECTS (>=2) according to the student΄s workload (contact hours, laboratory work, examination etc) and accumulation of credits (ECTS) is accomplished after successful completion of the course. </p>
