<p>The Inter-Institutional Postgraduate Program "Greece: Ecclesiastical History & Culture" offered by both the school of Social Theology & Christian Culture of the A.U.Th. and the Department of Social Theology and Religious Studies N.K.U.A. has set the following criteria perspective students should meet for selection. They should have a degree obtained at a Greek University or at Technological Educational Institute or any equivalent degree from foreign universities which has been recognized by Hellenic NARIC (NationalAcademicRecognitionInformationCenter). Also, graduates of Productive Schools of the Armed Forces and of the Security Corps and the Higher Ecclesiastical Academies of the national and allied recognized foreign institutions are able to apply.</p>

<p>In order for the postgraduate students to obtain their degree from the Inter-Institutional Postgraduate Study Programme, they have to attend and successfully complete the assignments and exams in 2 semesters of coursework that correspond to 60 ECTS. During the 3rd semester the students have to write a Master Thesis that corresponds to 30 ECTS, which will be evaluated by a three-member committee and be defended in public by the candidate. </p><p>The subject of the Inter-Institutional Postgraduate Program "Greece: Ecclesiastical History & Culture" is the study and research of the various historical and cultural data of Orthodox Christian life, as produced in the historical course of the Church in Greece. </p><p>Purpose </p><p>The aim of the Program is to cultivate and promote the scientific knowledge and research in the fields of History and Culture, as they were developed in Greece, so as to provide postgraduate students with specialized knowledge of the subject, aiming at a more complete preparation for their scientific and professional careers. </p><p>Learning outcomes </p><p>The main objectives are as follows: </p><p>In particular,the program aims at </p><p>1.Providing high-level postgraduate studies. </p><p>2.Training of qualified graduates with a solid theoretical background in the discipline of Ecclesiastical History and Culture that developed in the Hellenic Church, as well as to give them the ability to deal with complex practical problems in these fields in an interdisciplinary manner. </p><p>The Interdisciplinary aspect of the programme is largely achieved by teaching financial coursesfor the first time, (Modern Management of Holy Metropolises and Parishes, Administration and Organization of the Church of Greece, Principles of Financial Management for Hellenic Church) as well as courses related to ecclesiastical diplomacy, politics and protocol. </p><p>It also offers insight into the influence of ecclesiastical life and tradition on the formation of Greek identity and culture generally. Apart from the faculty members of the Department of Pastoral and Social Theology of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the members of Social Theology and Religious Z Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, who are the partners of the program, faculty members include those from the Department of Economics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Departments of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Athens, as well as the UEA of Thessaloniki and Athens. </p><p>3.The promotion of self-confidence in the postgraduate students by providing specialized knowledge and systematic practice in the synthesis of the above mentioned subjects. </p><p>4.The promotion of interdisciplinary research through the teaching and discussion of complex research objects concerning Ecclesiastical History and Culture of Greece, as well as the development of a high level of related postgraduate diploma theses. </p><p>5.The development of critical and research skills which are required for doctoral studies. </p><p>6.Education and expertise provision concerning: </p><p>a.In the course of Christianity in Greece, the establishment and organization of the Church of Greece. </p><p>b.The forms and dimensions of culture, which originated or had direct relation to Orthodox religious tradition in Greece. The aim is the production of academic work in these fields and the understanding and interpretation of the different forms of contemporary Greek culture and their interactions with other Orthodox countries as well as other European religious traditions (Roman Catholic Church and Protestantism). </p><p>7.To the training of theologians, historians, lawyers, philologists, sociologists, political scientists, diplomats, church officers and civil servants with relevant knowledge, in order to be able to offer high-quality, professional research and scientific workand to become executives in organizations related to the fields of thePostgraduate Program </p>

<p>The Postgraduate Programme provides successful graduates with an important bonus in the selection process point system, not only in the Public but also in the Private Sector, along with extra wage privileges. </p>

<p>The successful completion of a Postgraduate Programme consists a prerequisite for the students to gain access in second level postgraduate studies of ΤhD programmes, not only in Greece but also in international Universities. </p>

<p>A scale of 1 to 10 applies to the assessment and grading system of first level postgraduate students </p><p>Excellent: 8.50-10.00 </p><p>Very Good : 6.50- 8.49 </p><p>Good : 6.00-6.49 </p><p>Fail: 0-5.99 </p><p>Minimum passing grade : 6 </p>

<p>3 semesters, 90 ECTS in order to successfully complete the Programme and receive a Master΄s Degree. A full academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS units and a full complete semester to 30 ECTS (1 ECTS = 28 hours) (Greek Legislation according to European Legislation (Ministerial Decision no Φ5/89656/β3, art. 1-3, Hellenic Government Gazette no 1466/2007/B). Each course is credited with a number of ECTS according to the workload the students are required to fulfil for a successful completion of each course. The third semester is the period when the students write their dissertation / thesis. If the students wish, they have the right to apply for an extension for a year. Then, the decision is taken by the Special Inter-Institutional Committee. </p>

<p>Obligatory attendance at the lectures organized in each course, as well as attendance at the special postgraduate seminaries and academic meetings. </p>
