<p>Α Degree awarded by a Greek Public University or by a recognized foreign Institution of equivalent status or by a Technological Education Institute is required + exams in specific topics of European Literature and in foreign languages. </p>

<p>The PSP on Comparative Literature aims to specialize students in the field of Com-Lit, i.e. the study of literature from a perspective that transcends national, linguistic, cultural or other boundaries, and especially in the comparative study of literary history, literary theory, as well as in the comparative analysis and criticism of literary texts. PSP trains the students in the areas of a) research methodology, academic and critical writing b) hermeneutics of literature and the theory of reception c) historical and theoretical research of the function and place of literary texts among their broader cultural environment, opening up the field of comparison to more, if possible, areas and languages d) Moreover, as nowadays Com-Lit is tightly connected to intercultural and transcultural mediations, as well as with inter-mediality and trans-mediality, students are encouraged to broaden their comparative perspective beyond the traditional literary field, embracing other arts. e) At the same time, scientific dialogue with History, Social and Political Sciences, Philosophy, Social Anthropology, Ecology and other Human Sciences, widens the comparative scope for new researchers. f) Consequently, PSP insists, in terms of teaching and research, on Literary and Critical Theory which are, by definition, the modus operandi of Comparative Literature as well as on the interdisciplinary approaches. Students are encouraged to either study multicultural or multilingual cases, i.e. to study different cultural or linguistic systems, or focus on the encounter of different art or scientific "jargons", or both. g) For all the reasons above, the terms of "interdisciplinarity" and "intermediality" are at the core of the PSP. </p>

<p>Professional qualification is not applicable in the public or private sector.</p>

<p>The qualification is a terminal award and allows access to doctoral studies.</p>

<p>A scale of 1 to 10 applies to the marks of each subject in the Hellenic Higher Education. The grading scheme is as follows (Ministerial Decision no Φ.1231/Β1/425 art.60, Hellenic Government Gazette no 1099/2000/B):</p><p>Άριστα (Arista) Excellent: 8.50-10.00</p><p>Λίαν Καλώς (Lian Kalos) Very Good: 6.50-8.49</p><p>Καλώς (Kalos) Good: 6.00-6.49</p><p>Minimum passing grade for each course and the MA Essay is 6.</p>

<p>4 Semesters (full-time study), 90 ECTS </p><p>A full academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS units and each semester to 30 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) (1ECTS= 25-30). Compliance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) regulations started in 2007, when the Greek Legislation was harmonized with the relevant European one (Ministerial Decision no Φ5/89656/β3, art. 1-3, Hellenic Government Gazette no 1466/2007/B). A full academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS units and each semester to 30 ECTS. </p>
