Hydrocarbon Exploration and Exploitation

<p>The post-graduate program admits graduates of the Departments of the School of Sciences, the Geotechnical and Environmental Sciences from Greek Universities and Engineering Faculties as well as from equivalent foreign University Departments and Institutes, which are recognized by the Hellenic National Academic Recognition Information Center (DOATAP). Also the program admits graduates from Senior Military Academies with specialties relevant to the content of the post-graduate program.</p>
<p>Interinstitutional Postgraduate Study Program (I.P.S.P.) "Hydrocarbon Exploration and Exploitation" is a common postgraduate course, running by the following four Academic Institutions:</p><p>School of Geology -Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as a coordinating Institution, in collaboration with:</p><p>SCHOOL OF MINING AND METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING, NATIONAL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS</p><p>DEPARTMENT OF GEOLOGY AND GEOENVIRONMENT - NATIONAL & KAPODISTRIAN UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS, and</p><p>DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS - DEMOCRITUS UNIVERSITY OF THRACE.</p><p>All lectures are given in the coordinating Institution.</p><p>The aim of the Interinstitutional Postgraduate Study Program (I.P.S.P) is to train the students to develop knowledge, skills and abilities in order to:</p><p>-Fulfill the requirements of geoscience and engineering sectors of Petroleum Industry including sedimentary basin analysis, sedimentology, sequence stratigraphy, tectonics, reservoir characterization, acquisition - processing and interpretation of seismic data.</p><p>-Fulfill the requirements of basic geoscience sectors connected to Hydrocarbon like Geostatistics, Petrophysics and Reservoir Engineering.</p><p>-Develop skills and abilities for prospecting, exploration and production of Hydrocarbons, trough lecturing, fieldwork and visiting to oil industry plants.</p><p>-Develop skills of using up-to-date methods and practices for prospecting, exploration and production of oil and gas, that includes the use of software and hardware systems for the interpretation of 2d/3d seismics, petrophysical properties and reservoir modeling and characterization. The students also are trained to ΄industry standard΄ software as Petrel, Techlog, Petromod, Merak ,GeoX and also software for production engineering by CMG.</p><p>-Develop skills and learn techniques required for hydrocarbon exploitation, including deep drilling methods, production drilling, reservoir fluids΄ properties, well logging acquisition and interpretation, and also production engineering and well performance, in relation to economic and environmental aspects.</p><p>-The students are also trained to work in team projects and learn project management techniques and economic aspects of the Oil Industry.</p><p>In general, the IPSP is aiming to provide high quality education and training to the students to develop advanced abilities required by the Petroleum Industry. The students acquire a balanced knowledge of Geological and Engineering disciplines required in exploration and exploitation stages, connected to economic aspects of the Industry and project management techniques.</p>

<p>A scale of 1 to 10 applies to the marks of each subject in the Hellenic Higher Education. </p><p>Άριστα (Arista) Excellent: 8.50-10.00 </p><p>Λίαν Καλώς (Lian Kalos) Very Good : 6.50- 8.49 </p><p>Καλώς (Kalos) Good : 6.00-6.49 </p><p>Ανεπιτυχώς (Anepitychos) Fail: 0-5.99 </p><p>Minimum passing grade : 6 </p>
<p>4 SEMESTERS, 120 ECTS </p><p>A full academic year is equivalent to 60 ECTS units and each semester to 30 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) (1ECTS=25-30 student work load hours). Compliance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) regulations started in 2007, when the Greek Legislation was harmonized with the relevant European one (Ministerial Decision no Φ5/89656/β3, art. 1-3, Hellenic Government Gazette no 1466/2007/B). Each course is credited with a number of ECTS (>=2) according to the student΄s workload (contact hours, laboratory work, examination etc) and accumulation of credits (ECTS) is accomplished after successful completion of the course. </p>
