<p style="text-align:justify;">To obtain the MSc in "Social - Preventive Medicine and Quality in Health Care" with a specialization in "Prevention and Public Health" or "Quality in Health Care and Patient Safety", depending on the specialization chosen, the postgraduate students are required to attend and successfully complete eight (8) courses, which correspond to 60 ECTS and are distributed as follows: a) in the 1st semester (30 ECTS), four (4) compulsory core courses, b) in the 2nd semester (30 ECTS), three (3) compulsory courses for each specialization and one (1) of the three (3) available elective courses, depending on the specialization [there are two (2) common elective courses and one (1) different one in each specialization]. The postgraduate students are required to complete ninety (90) ECTS, as follows: a) sixty (60) ECTS from successfully attending the offered courses of the 1rst and 2nd semester and b) thirty (30) ECTS from designing, preparing, writing and successfully defending their Master Thesis, at the third semester.</p><p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:#26282A;">The aim of the p</span><span style="color:#1D2228;">rogramme </span><span style="color:#26282A;">is the promotion of knowledge, the development of research, as well as the satisfaction of the educational, research, social, cultural and development needs in </span><span style="color:black;">developing specialized scientific personnel, </span><span style="color:#26282A;">capable of contributing to theoretical and applied areas of Social - Preventive Medicine, and Quality in Health Care. </span><span style="color:#1D2228;">Graduates are expected to have gained a critical understanding of the disciplines, methods, and applications of the cutting-edge scientific fields of Social - Preventive Medicine, Public Health, and Quality in Health Care. Specifically, graduates are expected to acquire a profound understanding of health determinants, and of the major problems in Public Health, and familiarize themselves with the optimal applications of Preventive Medicine both at clinical practice and at population level. They are also expected to deeper their knowledge in the concept of Quality in Health Care, delving into the internationally recognized dimensions of patient safety and safety in health professionals, effectiveness, person-centredness, efficiency, timeliness, equity, and integrated care. In addition, they are expected to acquire specific knowledge in the principles of epidemiology, research methodology and biostatistics, and skills that will enable them to critically read international scientific literature, as well as to design, implement and present scientifically sound research work, contributing to efforts in developing new knowledge and processes by integrating knowledge from different fields. Additionally, graduates of the Specialization "Prevention and Public Health" are expected to acquire specialized knowledge and skills in community needs assessment and in designing programmes and interventions to protect and promote population health and well-being. Respectively, graduates of the Specialization "</span>Quality in Health Care and Patient Safety<span style="color:#1D2228;">" are expected to acquire specialized knowledge and skills in designing quality assurance and improvement interventions on the different dimensions of quality in health care, with emphasis on patient safety, which are part of the broader context of protecting and promoting population health and well-being. </span><span style="color:#26282A;">The provision of specialized knowledge and skills are expected to equip graduates to staff Social - Preventive Medicine and Public Health services at a local, regional, national or international level, as well as health care services, contributing to the assurance and improvement of their quality.</span></p>
