Learning Outcomes
After the courses, students will be in touch with modern political philosophy, they will be able to recognize the difference between the main political theories, they will know the basic elements of the political theories and they will be in position to use the main philosophical concepts concerning politics.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course examines some of the major aspects of modern political philosophy, with special emphasis on Spinoza’s political theory and also on Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, and Kant. It focuses mainly on their conceptualizations of state, sovereignty, law, constitutionality, democracy, and freedom; and on the relation between philosophy, theology and politics.
