Course Content (Syllabus)
The course is dealing with the relationship between expressions of architectural creation in the course of time and their contemporary view of the subject. Subject and space make up the thematic axis on which we are discussing architectural phenomena from the Renaissance until today. In this way we are approaching critically the predominant aspects of architecture in each era, and at the same time their relationship with other contemporary ones. Moreover is examined the basic conceptual body of architectural theory and creation of each period in reference to the influences that brought to their formation the current philosophical and scientific reason. We are examining these issues both at the theoretical level and through the analysis of examples of space in architectural and urban scale. In this context and for more effective uptaking and understanding of the content of the course we make extensive use of electronic audiovisual material, images (photographs, drawings and sketches), charts and videos.
