The students might have a good knowledge of the Ottoman history, in order to be able to delve into and study a specific topic.
Learning Outcomes
-Thorough examination of the specific historical period.
-Competence in elaboration of a complete historical study from the initial stage (search of a theme) to the final (writing of an essay).
-Competence in asking and answering scientific questions.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Weeks 1st-3rd: The instructor introduces to the notion of the Ottoman 15th and Ottoman 16th century. What does every term mean? What are the special characteristics of each century? What does 'classical age' mean? What are the chronological termina of each sub-period? The instructor presents the basic sources of the period. He gives an outline of the historiography.
Weeks 4th-8th: The students prepare, present, and discuss topics of the period by using selected scientific articles and/or books.
Weeks 9th-13th: The students present the essays they have prepared during the semester.
