Course Content (Syllabus)
This seminar deals with a rather neglected topic among Greek academic philosophers: the study of late medieval political thought. We will discuss three works that have been recently translated from the Latin original by Assist. Prof. Eleni Tounta: De Regno ad Regem Cypri by Aquinas, Defensor Pacis by Marsilius of Padova and De Regimine Civitatis by Bartolus of Sassoferrato. The reading of these is expected to dispel some of the negative preconceptions pertaining to this period of the western political thought.
