Learning Outcomes
With the successful completion of the course, the postgraduate students are expected (a) to deepen their knowledge on a major phase of ancient Greek literature, namely Hellenistic literature, (b) to study the poetry of Callimachus and especially the Aetia, (c) to acquaint themselves with the poetic principles of Callimachus, and (d) to make oral presentations and write an essay on a subject related to the Aetia of Callimachus.

Course Content (Syllabus)
This postgraduate course aims at the study of Hellenistic literature. After an introduction to the literature of the Hellenistic age and the main bibliography concerning the study of Hellenistic poetry, the course focuses on the Aetia of Callimachus. The course is taught in the original Greek and the text will be discussed stylistically and interpreted with reference to specialized bibliography (monographs, articles and commentaries).
