Course Content (Syllabus)
The foundamentals of studying Balkan Linguistics; critical analysis on the activity of eminent specialists as Miklosich, Sandfeld and Trubetzkoy, the concept of the Balkan Linguistic Union and the factors which can explain the genesis of the Balkanisms. Description of the basic phonetic, morphological and syntactic balkanisms (postposition of the article, case syncretism, structure of the future, etc.). Balkan Linguistics and Modern Greek dialects.
