Learning Outcomes
In the course, we study the most important Ibsen plays, of the realistic period (1877-1899), from the point of view of dramaturgy. On the side, we will discuss contemporary stagings of his plays.
We study the plays in a chronological order and the bibliography used comprises mainly of books and articles published recently in English.

Description
We use information on performances and stagings available on the Internet. Furthermore, there is a continuously updated site of the course on Blackboard. All the students enrolled in the course have access to it.

Description
ASSESSMENT
PRESENTATIONS: Students (individually or as a group) can do a presentation of specific stagings of the plays studied in the course.
WRITTEN EXAMINATION
The students will be asked to respond to three categories of questions:
1. Identification of excerpt from the plays discussed in class (30%).
2. Analysis of a specific plays, as far as its form and content (40%).
3. Commentary on a play of your choice (500 words). This is a take-home assignment and will be submitted on the day of the written examination (30%).
You can choose on of two questions in 1 and 2.
The assessment method is mentioned on the Syllabus, which is uploaded on the Blackboard site of the course, as well as on the departmental site.
