Learning Outcomes
Students who will complete this course will be able to give an overview of the development of ancient rhetoric in early Christian and Byzantine periods. They will be familiar with the study and analysis of representative texts of ecclesiastical rhetoric, with emphasis upon the golden age of this genre and the works of the Cappadocian Church Fathers. Finally, they will know how to write a research study offering a rhetorical analysis of such texts.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The study and analysis of representative texts of ecclesiastical rhetoric, with emphasis on the works of the Cappadocian Church fathers of the 4th century AD. Students will also write essays on the rhetorical analysis of such texts.
