Learning Outcomes
(a) To acquaint students with ancient Greek thought, with emphasis on rhetoric texts. (b) To familiarize students with the scientific research on rhetoric of 4th century B.C. (c)To enable students to do original research and to present the results of their research on postgraduate level.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The class focuses on ancient Greek rhetoric, with emphasis placed on rhetoric and democracy in Athens in 4th century BC, on morality and politics, with a thorough examination of the seven orators from the canon: Isocrates, Isaeus, Demosthenes, Aeschines, Lykurgus, Hyperides, Dinarchus. The main point of this course is the modern research on these topics and the writing of a scientific paper on a postgraduate level.
