Learning Outcomes
(A) Information on the Roman literature of Late Antiquity (characteristics, genres, writers). (B) In particular, effective approach to the literary production of the writer of the era of Konstantin the Great, Optatianus Porfyrius. Understanding and appreciation of his literary characteristics and value. (C) Familiarity with the existing bibliography and ability to use it. (C) Acquisition of writing skills for scientific work in general and specifically in relation to Optatianus Porfyrius: adequate use of texts, review of the previous research, presenting new views. (D) Awareness of the value of the Latin texts of Late Antiquity in terms of both literary and content.

Course Content (Syllabus)
The course under the tile "Constantinian Poetry: The carmina figurata of Optatianus Porfyrius" concerns the Constantinian Literature general and especially the poetry collection of Optatianus Porfyrius. Initially the teacher presents the life and work of Optatianus Porfyrius. Then work assigned to students in specialized subjects. Each work is developed with the help of instructor. After a first integration ispresented orally within the seminar. The teacher and students of the seminar criticize. Finally tasks are completed and submitted in writing.
