Learning Outcomes
After successfully completing the course, the students will have approached ancient Greek mythology through the means of descriptive arts, such as sculpture, pottery, painting, minor arts, mosaics and coins. They will become acquainted with characteristic myths on the activities of the Dodecatheon and secondary deities, the achievements of heroes and heroines, the various demonic and fictional creatures. In addition, they will examine the reasons for using specific mythological themes in the ancient Greek and Roman world as well as the issue of the preservation of ancient Greek myths and the way they were perceived in subsequent periods.
