Course Content (Syllabus)
Aim of the course: The introduction of students to economic tools used in health issues and into relevant literature. Contents: The teaching of this course begins with an introduction concerning the subject of Health Economics and the speculations which arise from the research of this scientific area. An attempt is also made at analyzing the diachronic course taken by the health expenditure made in the developed world as well as an examination of the factors that influenced their rapid growth. Another section is devoted to health policy and the reformation of the health systems in Europe as well as the study of the Greek health system. The methods used for the economic evaluation of health care programmes constitute a distinctive section of our teaching aiming to provide students with a general knowledge of economic evaluation and its meaning regarding decision making at all levels of health care. Last but not least, a section is devot-ed to hospitals, mainly to their financing and administration
