Course Content (Syllabus)
This course aims at introducing students to informal logic, namely to the analysis and assessment of arguments expressed in a natural language. Among the topics discussed are: the identification and reconstruction of arguments, the distinction between inductive and deductive arguments, validity and soundness, definitions, fallacies and forms of philosophical argumentation. In addition, great emphasis is placed on debunking the widespread but logically spurious thinking underlying conspiracy theories and certain forms of pseudo-science. Due to the nature of this course students will be asked to take various tests apart from the final exam.
