General Prerequisites
Basic notions of Hydraulics (Hydraulic head, Energy equation, Energy line, Piezometric line). Steady-state free surface flow: Uniform flow. Specific and total energy. Critical depth. Control sections. Hydraulic jump. Gradually varyied flow. Spillways. Flows in natural streams: Erosion, sediment production, deposit and transport of sediment. Improvement of flow conditions and protection of natural streams by means of stream bed and bank protection works. Dam site selection. Environmental impact.
