Course Content (Syllabus)
The course examines the theoretical approaches and concepts of urban development and the key issues concerning the practices and methods of urban planning. The lectures given by the teaching staff and invited speakers and the relevant discussions in the classroom are the basic inputs for the exams. The main themes of the course are: • City and urban planning: main components • City and urban planning: historical trajectory • Urban planning: key issues • Urban mobility and urban forms • Sustainable urban development • Eco-districts of zero CO2 emissions • Urban governance and strategic spatial planning • Strategic planning methodologies • Planning and urban development regulations: examples of projects • Urban interventions in Greece • Digital technologies and urban development • Cases around the globe
