Learning Outcomes
The aim of this course is the training in nucleic acid biochemistry and particularly on the biochemical mechanisms by which the genetic information is replicated and expressed. Also we focus on the teaching of the biochemical and molecular basis of the immune system, sensory organs, and certain other tissues (e.g., connective tissue, blood, muscle tissue, etc.) as well as the teaching of the biochemical basis of the respective diseases.
General Competences
  • Apply knowledge in practice
  • Retrieve, analyse and synthesise data and information, with the use of necessary technologies
Course Content (Syllabus)
Structural characteristics of DNA and recombinant DNA technology. DNA: replication, mutagenesis and repair. RNA: Transcription, synthesis and processing. Protein synthesis. Regulation of gene expression. Biochemistry of the immune system and sensory organs. Protein engines. Hormones.
