Learning Outcomes
Construction methods and construction equipment of offshore structures based on best practices.
Knowledge of the required disciplines for analysis and design of offshore structures and of synthesis of the offshore structures' components (water - structure - soil) with the use of guidelines and specialized software.
Computation of loads and behavior of components of offshore structures with analytical equations.
Course Content (Syllabus)
Types, design, study, analysis and construction of offshore structures for exploitation of subsea hydrocarbons (oil and gas). Hydrodynamic loads on cylindrical members of small diameter and on large bodies. Morison equation. Static and dynamic analysis of mooring lines/cables. Offshore wind turbines: Offshore wind energy, configuration and operational elements, support structures, construction methods, design and numerical modeling of offshore wind turbines. Fluid-structure interaction under the action of regular waves. Case studies of various marine structures operating in various countries and specifically in Greece.
