The students should have proven knowledge and ability to understand issues concerning the protection of privacy. To be able to use in practice the knowledge and understanding ability acquired. To be able to develop and support legal arguments and to propose practical solutions to legal problems on the special field of Data Protection Law.

The general framework of protection (Law 2472/1997):

- Legitimation of processing
- Sensitive data
- Procedural rules
- Specific forms of protection
- Secreacy and confidentiality of data processing
- Rights of data subjects
- The Data Protection Authority
- Civil liability, administrative and penal sanctions.
Data transfer to third countries, and in particular the safe harbor principles
Data protection in e-communications
Data Retention
