To be able to develop and support legal arguments and to propose practical solutions to legal problems on the special field of Data Protection Law.

Course Content (Syllabus)
Introduction to data protection law. Approaches to informational privacy. Constitutional Framework. The general framework of protection (Law 2472/1997): - General principles - Legitimation of processing - Sensitive data - Procedural rules - Specific forms of protection - Secreacy and confidentiality of data processing - Rights of data subjects - The Data Protection Authority - Civil liability, administrative and penal sanctions. Data transfer to third countries, and in particular the safe harbor principles Data protection in e-communications Data Retention Specific issues: - data protection in work -videosurveillance - social networks - biometric data and RFID
