Course Content (Syllabus)
This module addresses and critically questions design proposals supported by the extended use of computational techniques and programming. The ingress of concepts like representation, simulation, optimization, parametrisism and generative scripting in architectural design methodologies are explored. These concepts are presented, analysed and understood in terms of the intentions through which they have been created by and the effects that they create. Through debates and hands-on exercises, the module aims at transcending the self-referential character of these concepts and at re-inventing them in the context of a novice, critical architectural approach.
