Learning Outcomes
It is an optional subject for postgraduate students in order to aquire theoritical and practical knowledge regardining Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), in school-aged children. The purpose of the subject is the introduction of the main DCD issues (terminology, epidemiology, comorbidity, motor, psychological and social features of the child), the analysis and comprehension of motor development, identification and assessment methods for DCD, in order effective intervention methods to be applied in PE settings focusing on the role of PE teacher. The student will acquire a basic knowledge on the procedures an methodologies for identification, assessment and intervention programs implementation in DCD.
Finishing the subject, the student should be able to:
• Comprehend the basic principles of motor development, and the deficits in DCD children
• Acquire knowledge on methods that used for the development of skillful movement and movement in DCD children, through the more recent scientific literature
• Identify the basic features in DCD children (motor, psychological, social and educational) on a case study and evaluate the basic principles on intervention issues in order to motivate DCD children to participate in physical activity
• Use the basic identification, assessment and intervention methodologies for the development of motor skills in DCD, from a professional point of view, using theory to practice.
• Analyze and calculate the main parameters of identification , assessment and intervention issues for motor learning
• Collect and interpret motor, psychosocial and educational features in DCD children and make decisions on a scientific issue
• Cooperate with colleagues to create an identification and intervention plan in a case study using different scientific procedures
• To share information, ideas, problems, solutions with qualified an non-qualified audience – oral presentations
• Develop skills of knowledge acquisition necessary for doctoral studies, with autonomy.
