Course Content (Syllabus)
This course focuses on the in-depth and rigorous exploration of specific topics within theoretical linguistics. Areas under investigation include, but are not limited to, any aspect of phonology, morphology, syntax or semantics. Students are exposed to the use of various theoretical models or frameworks and, through their application to the topics in question, are invited to assess the implications to linguistic theory in general. A primary objective of the course is the enhancement of analytical skills, crucial to the construction and development of theoretical argumentation, such as pattern-identification, problem solving and formal reasoning.
