Prerequisites
General Prerequisites
First order theory for monochromatic gravity waves. Basic knowledge of strength of materials and of dynamic behavior of systems.
Learning Outcomes
After the successful completion of the course the students will: (1) Understand the functionality and the main characteristics of marine (offshore) structures (fixed-bottom and floating) for the exploitation of hydrocarbons and offshore wind energy. (2) Understand the construction methods and the construction equipment of marine structures based on best practices. (3) Understand the basic principles of the analysis and the design of marine structures and of synthesis of the offshore structures' components (water - structure - soil) with the use of guidelines and specialized software. (4) Familiarize themselves with the calculation of loads and the assessment of the behaviour of components of marine structures with analytical equations.
General Competences
  • Apply knowledge in practice
  • Adapt to new situations
  • Make decisions
  • Work autonomously
  • Work in teams
  • Work in an international context
  • Work in an interdisciplinary team
  • Generate new research ideas
  • Design and manage projects
  • Respect natural environment
  • Be critical and self-critical
  • Advance free, creative and causative thinking
