Learning Outcomes
The course aims to assist students understand the principles of experimental design and research and use statistical methods to analyze data, report results and write essays.
Following this module, students should be able to:
•Design and conduct simple experimental research,
•Use statistical methods to analyze data
•Report results and present experiments.
•Understand the methodological issues involved in psychological research.
•Write a scientific essay in psychology.
Course Content (Syllabus)
This module aims to provide the necessary knowledge to design, run
and basically write about an experimental procedure in psychology. During a series of lectures, five psychological experiments are completed. Each experiment is linked with a specific topic in psychology and is introduced by a brief lecture. The topics of the experiment are: The primacy and recency effect, Levels of processing, The Stroop effect, Correlations& Problem solving.
Students work individually and prepare 5 lab reports that are marked about their quality. They get feedback about the strong and the weak point of their reports. They are also learn how to prepare a poster based on the results produced from their experiments.
