Course Content (Syllabus)
The course includes the following topics: Concept and content of Regional Economic Development. Concept of economic region, distinction of regions, systems of classification of regions. Basic defining factors of Regional Development. The Regional System. The regional distribution of economic activity. The spillovers of technological innovations in different locations. Interregional mobility of labor force. Interregional mobility of capital. Interregional trade. Theories of regional economic development. The model of export base, the neoclassical model. Recent models of Regional development. Theories on the relation between urban and rural areas.
