Course Content (Syllabus)
History and sociology of costume, Art history and fashion, (17th-18th century, first decades of 19th century)research in costume for dance and dance-theatre, designing costumes for dance performance. The course discusses: study of costume in performance and film; patterns and accessories for the historical costume construction; practical training in designing, lay out of the costume plate, fabric dyeing, painting and aging techniques, costumes’ alteration; costume design presentation for a selected theatre play (costume portfolio).
