RES and the energy problem. History of RES applications. Basic characteristics of RES, techniques and technologies for RES exploitation and system design, RES potential estimation.
SOLAR ENERGY: the sun, hot water systems, concentrating systems, photovoltaic systems, passive solar systems-bioclimatic design.
WIND ENERGY: the wind, wind energy conversion systems, wind generators.
GEOTHERMAL ENERGY: high-average and low enthalpy systems.
BIOMASS: forest biomass, agricultural byproducts, cattle-farm waste, biogas production, biofuels.
MUNICIPAL WASTE: characteristics, physical and chemical properties, management methods and utilization technologies.
HYDROPOWER: dams, turbines, power plants.
ENERGY FROM THE SEA: tidal energy, wave energy, ocean thermal energy.
ENERGY STORAGE: Thermal energy storage, Mechanical energy storage. Chemical energy storage. Batteries.
